Artists U
Artists U is a cooperative platform for helping artists with planning, long-term thinking, and problem-solving. The Artists U motto is Art-Citizenship-Friendship. We come together as artists, as citizens, as friends to strengthen our work, our communities, our connections.
Building on Creative Capital’s successful artist training, Artists U is a local, long-term, artist-run initiative to help artists become proactive rather than reactive in their artistic, professional and personal lives.
Working with a pilot class of 11 performing artists, Artists U inaugurated its year-long program of monthly group meetings and biweekly one-on-one sessions with an artist facilitator/mentor. Each of the artists in the 2006/07 class will then work with a colleague to share what they have learned with a wider group of artists.
Artists U plans to expand to include visual artists and to investigate ways to recruit new artists and share its practice. Learn more at the Artists U website.
Artists U is led by LINC Philadelphia partner Andrew Simonet and is hosted by the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival.
